He Just Wants to Make Popsicles -
My poor boy. He is 14. He won’t be a ‘baby’ much longer and this summer he has decided that popsicle making is his thing. He’s been taking pink lemonade and putting it in a dixie cup and freezing it. When its solid, he uses a fork and rakes off some of the top and enjoys it. Today, while I was out grocery shopping (in 104 degree heat) – I was searching high and low for popsicle molds.
I remember, as a kid, my best friend’s grandma would make us frozen pops of orange juice. Oh man-alive, those were like Heaven to a little kid on a hot day. I just want my kid to have memories that bring him back to childhood… I don’t think that is too much to ask.
So, on this journey of childhood memory fulfillment, I went to Winco, Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer, Le Chef, Kitchen something-or-other at the outlet, and the other kitchen store at the outlet (the name escapes me and isn’t relevant) – NONE of them have a popsicle mold!
When I got home, sweaty and down trodden w/o a popsicle mold in hand – I went looking online. Each store wants $5-$30 per mold. How sad is that? *sigh* What’s a Mom to do? The price of childhood memories is outlandish and the dixie cups are running low.
I’m off to stand in front of the AC, its still 97 outside. ICK!~G
PS: Gina’s rating of “the Queen” movie – quality 8/9, acting 8/9, overall rating 2. It was the slowest movie in my life. Ak!

I bought the Queen when it came out. I am known to buy a DVD every once in a very great while, yet wait forever to watch it. It is still sitting in that wrapper. I wonder now how much longer it will sit…
It’s rediculas how stores are treating our childhood memories. Highway robbery, I tell ya! Highway robbery!
Love ya! Tracy
I know Tupperware still sells them.
Thanks for the Queen update. I have been thinking of renting it myself. Saved me some docets.
Ditto what cereneone said – Tupperware sells them, though they’re kind of small. Lifetime guarantee though.
Really? ‘Cos I coulda swore I saw popsicle molds at Wal*Mart the other day. I’m going there tomorrow, I’ll look for you.
If you have a dollar tree store there…they have the popsicle molds.
I have used large popsicle sticks and plastic yogurt cups….only filled em up halfway tho…anyways…I’ll chat w/you tomorrow…gotta have em., at the church at 6:30 am for trip…sooooo early…yuk!
I thought the Queen was slow too, glad it wasn’t just me!
Hope you find the popsicle molds at a decent price! Stay cool!
Gina.. I just bought some for my daughter at Target..
I had totally forgotten about those things until I stopped by your site. Hope you don’t mind that I snooped….saw you on cool mamacita’s site and your comment caught my eye. Likewise, we have suffered the loss of our daughter, though not through a death (though I think that would have been easier to suffer than what we are suffering now). It’s been almost two years for us since she walked out of our lives so, like mamacita, the wounds are still pretty deep and fresh.
I love your site, the photos you post are wonderful and just the layout is wonderful. I’m not comupter literate and keep trying to get things to show up on my site…but always go back to the basic layout cuz things just don’t turn out the way I’d like. Oh well, at least there are pages like yours that make looking at worthwhile.
God bless you and your family. May you find a bit of comfort and joy in everyday. Mothering teens is very difficult, loaded with NO guarentees. All you can do is your best, love them always…no matter what they do or say. Hug them hug them hug them. Those are regrets I’ll never have. Take care ~~~ janet
Tupperware has MICKEY ones..LOL I wonder if I still have my Tupperware ones from years ago..hmmm now you got me wondering… I think I pitched them… now I wanna homemade popsicle.. mmmm

I got mine at the dollar store. Check them out!!
This blog makes me teary eyed! Awww…my grandma used to make popsicles like that. And I can’t believe you didn’t like The Queen. I want to buy it….
what’s you location?? because 104 is normal here! lol. in fact, I think the entire state of TX has been spoiled since we are now only getting into the 90′s, thanks to all that rain we don’t really need anymore.
my roommate last semester went through the Popsicle making phase turning all sorts of liquids into popsicles!! but it’s fun!!
Dollar store (but i don’t trust their plastics) or GARAGE SALES!! they’re always there! Or use a popsicle stick and Dixie cups — just tear the cup off and voila!! good size too.
D
We just got a popsicle mold at Target last week. It has four sections and they are rocket shaped – pretty good sized. It was $4.99. Have you looked on their website? (I haven’t, just wondering if they would offer it on there!)
:O)
