  • How could we go wrong?

After 100s of paint swatches and himmm’ing and hawwww’ing over colors, we chose Baked Scone for our main color & Cup of Cocoa for our accent.

With names like that, how could we go wrong?

I ask my man… ‘should we get samples and put it on the wall, stand back and look at it for a while?’

My man – ‘naw, we will be fine.  These are our favs from the 100s of swatches.  How could we go wrong?’

And so, w/ these we came home and I painted the accent wall and was in love.

    Until…

I put the first roller of main color on the wall and thought, this is all wrong.

    Its peachy.

Its not the lovely brown I wanted.

But I kept going… thinking to myself ‘it will get better.  I have 5 gallons.  Its got to get better.’

    Main wall.

    Entry.

    Hall.

    Bedroom.

    Its all very, very wrong.

And so, today, I have a date w/ home depot and some more paint samples.  I’ll let you know how it goes…

  • Oh bummer that is a lot of work to redo!!!

  • I have to admit, I am always leary of paint swatches… sorry you aren’t satisfied, and have to redo.

  • We’ve done that with yellows-wanted a nice cramy yellow but when we got it on the wall it was more lemon yellow. Also had that problem with carpet, thought we were getting a nice neutral biege, but when installed it looked more peachy. That one we just learned to live with-fortuantely it was the family room and got more wear than anywhere else in the house and we could justify replacing it sooner than the other carpets.

  • that baked scone looks a lot like what is on my walls now… but ours are a bit lighter.. very PEACHY… ackkkk  I cannot WAIT to get it painted!  hope you find the perfect color!!  can’t wait to see what you find… I would suggest ALWAYS doing a test wall… it took us forever it seemed to come up with something we liked… we found ours by going to model homes… when we saw what we liked we asked for the paint color!  the paint ‘chip’ looked WAY diff than the real thing.. LOL  WAY diff… I don’t envy you at all!

  • Argh! How frustrating! When I started to paint our main color (sort of goldeny peanut butter) it was really YELLOW when it was wet & my DH wasn’t too keen (and I was half way thru and ready to roll the paint down his face for saying it) Anyways, thankfully the color dried a bit darker and he liked it.  But yes, in the rental place we lived, the lovely ‘beige’ on the wall took on a slight PINK tinge in certain lights and I hated it. Hope you find the perfect color.

  • the cup of cocoa is what Kylie’s nursery is done in…
