  • Calling for an Intervention

Its hopeless.  I’m addicted.  I have tried to resist for far too long, but peer pressure has gotten the best of me… and I need to get my fix.

This is undoubtedly my drug of choice…

My machine has always been a dud, from the day I bought it.  Sad.  Really sad.  The feed dogs chew up thread and don’t like to obey… the tension is always an issue, and the balance is way off.

Had I not been a momma w/ 4 children under the age of 7 I would have stomped back into the store and demanded justice from my purchase.  But who are we kidding?

Anyone willing to help a girl out?  Do you have a good machine that they are neglecting and willing to send me if I pay for shipping?  I dream of embroidery, quilts, and drop in bobbins.  :)

  • I don’t have one to send!  Have you checked e-bay?  That’s where I bought a brand new one for around $200 bucks!

  • You had me thinking that you stitched those!  Those are gorgeous.  Drop in bobbin huh… those exist?  My machine is about 10 years old and certainly does not have a drop in bobbin.  Check out ebay, Walmart, and JoAnnes to see if they have any good deals.  But embroidery… ooohh, that’s gonna  be a small fortune, lol.

  • Have you made quilts Gina? I am just starting… oh my gosh… soooooo addictive … I love fabric.

  • @joygross - I’ve made a topper while taking a class about 100 years ago, but that is all.  :)

  • Craigslist is also a good source for searching for things you need.  You can post to their ‘wanted’ section, and it’s free.  A good repairman can work wonders on a machine too & might be less expensive.  Sewing machines that don’t work properly are so stinkin frustrating!  Love the quilt photos, Peace

  • Gina,  Sounds like the problem with your machine period is the tension.  It will cause the threads to bunch up and also if it needs a good cleaning.  I don’t have a machine to send but I’ve bought one from Walmart and have  been completely satisfied with it.  It is a brother and they also have an embrodiery machine for about $400.  My sister has one of those.  She likes it also.  I used to make country clothes and sell them in my shop and the machine stitched many stitches.  Just have to clean and oil them regularly.

  • I have a friend who is looking to get rid of hers, I’ll ask.

  • Did I tell you that my Mom brought over my new machine? My old one — I’d sent it to you but I’ve hated it forever, bad tension problems — will be Kendrah’s training machine. The new one is amazing, but I probably shouldn’t go on and on about it here. I like some of the quilts you posted….do you have patterns to go with them? ;)
